Weekend Preparations

Jake and I got ready all day today for Hayden's birthday party tomorrow. At 8pm tonight Rudolph was on, and while we put up the tree, the kids watched the classic. They loved it, of course. They helped with the tree too. I've got a good feeling that THIS year they won't be pulling at it and taking all the decorations off... knock on wood.

I finished a not-so-traditional smartie cake at about 1am. The Doodle Bops are one of Hayden's favourite shows. This is Rooney Doodle. Jake helped me with the execution of the idea. Mostly it stemmed from "What do I do with a whole bunch of blue fondant icing?"

Music notes on the back half. The red smarties are his hat.

And last but not least, our gorgeous Christmas Tree. We got a live one. Jake picked it up last night. Balsam Fir (my fav) and it smells divine. It's not quite fully decorated yet, but for the most part it is done. I loooooove it. I don't even care that there are needles everywhere, or that my hands get sap on them. It's perfect. I'm so glad I got rid of the hated flimsy crappy fake tree from last year.
